Solo Dining in Busan
What to eat alone in Busan: single-serving dishes, prices from our existing guides, Korean ordering phrases, and how to handle barbecue minimum orders.
Last updated: · Busan Bible Editorial Team (based in Busan)
For solo dining in Busan, start with dishes normally sold in individual portions: pork soup with rice, milmyeon, kalguksu and gimbap. For barbecue or a shared hot pot, check the “minimum N servings” rule first. A menu price for one serving does not necessarily mean you can order only one.
Dishes that are easier to order alone
The named restaurants and prices below come from our existing guides. They help you choose a dish and estimate costs; they are not confirmation that these restaurants accept solo diners. Kalguksu and gimbap are menu ideas only, without an unverified restaurant or price attached.
| Dish | Example restaurant and existing guide | Price recorded in the guide |
|---|---|---|
| Pork soup with rice (돼지국밥) | Jaegi Dwaeji Gukbap (재기돼지국밥) | ₩10,000 (約NT$240) |
| Milmyeon, cold wheat noodles (밀면) | Samsung Milmyeon (삼성밀면) | ₩8,000 (約NT$192) |
| Classic bao, for a light bite | BAOHAUS (바오하우스) | ₩5,500 (約NT$132) |
| Knife-cut noodles / noodle soup (칼국수 / 국수) | No specific restaurant listed here | Check the menu |
| Gimbap, seaweed rice rolls (김밥) | No specific restaurant listed here | Check the menu |
Taiwan-dollar equivalents use ₩1,000≈NT$24, based on the Bank of Taiwan cash-rate midpoint on 2026/10/30; “約” means approximately. These are budgeting estimates, and the restaurant’s current menu determines the actual price.
For your first bowl, read our pork soup ordering guide. Our milmyeon, fish cake and seed hotteok guide explains the noodle options. Check serving sizes even for snacks: tteokbokki is not always sold as a meal for one.
What if barbecue or hot pot starts at two servings?
Korean barbecue and shared dishes such as budae jjigae or a whole-chicken hot pot often have minimum orders. “2인분부터” or “2인분 이상” means at least two servings; follow the actual number shown. Minimum food quantity and permission for one diner to take a table are separate questions.
- Ask if you can order two servings as one diner. Decide whether the quantity and total cost suit you, then confirm seating. Do not budget for the meal using only the displayed per-serving price.
- Ask about a single-serving lunch set. Confirm its own minimum order. Such a set may not be available, and lunch service does not automatically waive the rule.
- Try outside lunch and dinner peaks. Seating one person at a larger table may be easier when it is quieter. This does not change minimum portions; switch to soup or noodles if the arrangement does not work.
For a concrete portion example, our Yeongdo food guide lists Donald (도날드) cooked-at-the-table tteokbokki at ₩11,000 (約NT$264) for two servings. That does not imply a half-price single portion is available, or that one diner is guaranteed a table.
Two Korean phrases to use before sitting down
| Korean | Meaning | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 혼자인데 괜찮아요? | Is it okay if I am dining alone? | Before taking a table |
| 1인분도 돼요? | Can I order one serving? | While pointing to the dish |
You can show these phrases to the staff. The first asks about the number of diners; the second asks about the food quantity. A yes to seating does not settle the minimum order for every dish.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I eat on my first solo day in Busan?
Start with pork soup with rice, milmyeon, kalguksu or gimbap, which are generally sold as individual meals or portions. Confirm seating for one before you sit down.
Does a price per serving mean I can order just one?
No. Barbecue may be priced per serving while requiring an order of two or more. Read the minimum-order note and ask the staff.
Can I eat Korean barbecue alone?
Ask whether one diner can order the required minimum portions, or whether a single-serving lunch set is available. Neither option guarantees admission; confirm with the restaurant.
Will visiting outside peak hours guarantee a table for one?
No. It can make seating easier, but it does not remove a minimum-order requirement.
